Emergency Response

With unimaginable force, Hurricane Katrina tore through one of the world’s busiest ports in New Orleans in 2005. Thousands of workers were needed to get the port in working order and help bring business back into the battered city. Before any work could begin, however, workers needed facilities that the city could not provide. SludgeHammer was able to quickly respond and in seven days had wastewater treatment systems set up so that the workers could begin the critical task of getting New Orleans back up and running.

Remote Location

SludgeHammer’s ability to break down toxic effluent has been crucial in remote sites around the world. In 2006, Chevron enlisted the aid of Bibby Lines, an old and respected English shipping firm, to provide floating housing for workers building a new natural gas processing plant near Escravos, Nigeria. With no local sewage plant available Bibby needed a creative, flexible solution for wastewater treatment that could fit into their floating housing units. SludgeHammer units which produce water clean enough to be reintroduced back into the local watertable, were installed in the Bibby Progress, capable of servicing 1,000 workers.
