SludgeHammer® S-86 Aerobic Bacterial

Advanced Innovation for Residential Wastewater Treatment

Engineered for high-strength wastewater applications and larger residential systems (5+ bedrooms), the SludgeHammer® S-86 ABG is the cornerstone of our advanced treatment technology and is the specific ABG UNIT in our NSF-40 testing/certification. Whether remediating failed systems or designing solutions for NSF residential applications, restaurants, food processors, wineries, and remote communities, the S-86 offers powerful, scalable performance that minimizes environmental impact and delivers clean, reusable water.

As with all SludgeHammer® systems, installation is seamless and non-invasive. Often used in conjunction with proprietary Medusa™ diffusers, TBD units, and RCP recirculation pumps, the S-86 adapts to varying waste loads and system designs—extending infrastructure life without the need for costly excavation or mechanical complexity.

At the heart of this system is the SludgeHammer Blend™—a scientifically advanced consortium of oxygen-loving bacteria that amplify organic waste digestion and manage clog-forming biomat. By maintaining aerobic conditions in the wastewater environment, the S-86 ABG ensures optimal treatment performance and supports long-term water reclamation, groundwater protection, and nutrient reuse.

Certified under IAPMO IGC180-2003 and recognized by the Uniform Plumbing Code, SludgeHammer® technology restores system function up to 4x faster than aerobic treatment alone and is the only technology of its kind to meet this stringent industry standard.

The result: Drastically reduced waste pumping, minimized maintenance, and a highly efficient, biologically regenerative approach to commercial and large-scale residential wastewater treatment and reuse.

Usage & Applications

The S-86 Aerobic Bacterial Generator (ABG) is the backbone of SludgeHammer® commercial treatment systems. Typically used in conjunction with our TBD and Medusa diffusers, as well as our RCP recirculation pumps, the S-86 allows us to engineer solutions for high-strength wastes, such as restaurants, food processors, wineries, large communities, and more. The S-86 is also the workhorse for residential remediation applications (homes that are 5 bedrooms or greater).

The Science

The advanced bacteriology provided by the S-86 allows us to supply any level of air delivery and mixing so that treatment can be fine-tuned to all volumes and strengths of wastewater loading. Unlike complex conventional systems, with SludgeHammer®, the bacteria do the work. The only mechanical component is the air blower and it sits outside the liquid for easy access. All essential components in the liquid are driven by innovative use of the air stream. Maintenance is minimal, and treatment powerful.

Data & Statistics

It is estimated that 95% of all septic system failures are caused by biomat clogging. SludgeHammer® technology is rigorously tested and certified to restore leach systems clogged by organic biomat at a rate of at least 2.5 times that of aerobic treatment alone through testing under IAPMO IGC180-2003. SludgeHammer® is the ONLY technology on the market that holds the IAPMO standard.

The Solution

Eliminate biomat clogging and optimize septic function with the SludgeHammer® S-86.

  • Extend the life of new leach fields or drip irrigation systems
  • Drastically reduce the need for septic tank pumping
  • Decrease or eliminate destructive property repair
