This system integrates seamlessly into new residential infrastructure and is installed in the inlet chamber of a 2,000-gallon double-compartment septic tank. As with other models in the SludgeHammer® line, the S-600 uses a fine-bubble air diffuser to aerate the wastewater, circulating it through the SludgeHammer® column. A proprietary refuge chamber holds the SludgeHammer Blend™—a powerful consortium of oxygen-loving bacteria and enzymes—continuously supplied with aerated liquid to digest organic matter and eliminate clog-forming biomat.

Air is supplied to the SludgeHammer® column via a microfine-bubble diffuser, where it rises and displaces the liquid inside the column. This creates a circulation flow, with liquid entering at the bottom and exiting at the top. A rough filter at the base prevents toilet paper and fecal matter from entering the unit. A packet of proprietary “SludgeHammer® Blend” bacteria and enzymes is introduced into the system and held in a central refuge, continuously supplied with aerated liquid to promote the efficient breakdown of organic matter.

This case study highlights a septic system upgrade in Coloma, Michigan, where a high water table caused system failure. The site presented three major challenges: limited space for installation, a water level near the surface, and a small lot that couldn’t support traditional systems. These issues made a standard septic solution unworkable.
