Installed in the inlet chamber of a 2,500-gallon standard septic tank, the S-800 uses a micro fine-bubble diffuser to inject air into the column, displacing and circulating liquid for optimal microbial contact. The SludgeHammer® unit uses air to create circulation within its column, helping to treat wastewater effectively. Air is delivered through a microfine-bubble diffuser, rising to displace the liquid inside the column. This causes a flow where liquid enters at the bottom and exits at the top. A rough filter at the base keeps toilet paper and fecal matter out of the system.
The unit also contains a packet of proprietary “SludgeHammer® Blend” bacteria and enzymes, which are kept in a central refuge. This refuge is continuously supplied with aerated liquid, promoting the efficient breakdown of organic matter for cleaner effluent.
It is estimated that 95% of all septic system failures are caused by biomat clogging. SludgeHammer® technology is rigorously tested and certified to restore leach systems clogged by organic biomat at a rate of at least 2.5 times that of aerobic treatment alone through testing under IAPMO IGC180-2003. This case study highlights a septic system upgrade in Coloma, Michigan, where a high water table caused system failure. The site presented three major challenges: limited space for installation, a water level near the surface, and a small lot that couldn’t support traditional systems. These issues made a standard septic solution unworkable.
To overcome these challenges, the SludgeHammer® septic system was installed.
