Tank Bottom Diffuser

Supplemental Aeration for Residential and Commercial
Wastewater Systems

The Tank Bottom Diffuser offers an efficient and economical way to enhance dissolved oxygen levels in septic systems. Designed for use alongside SludgeHammer® ABG Unit, this diffuser supports both residential and commercial applications where increased oxygen transfer is required to boost biological activity and treatment efficiency.

With a 1” membrane and an active surface area of 113 square inches, the Tank Bottom Diffuser is engineered for high-efficiency aeration in a compact footprint. It can deliver up to 6 lbs. of dissolved oxygen per day, significantly improving conditions for aerobic bacteria and helping prevent sludge buildup and system failure.

Ideal for systems that require additional oxygen without the complexity or cost of large-scale equipment, the Tank Bottom Diffuser can be installed with an individual air pump or integrated into an air manifold system. It operates effectively with air delivery rates ranging from 1 to 3 CFM, making it adaptable to a variety of system sizes and configurations.

Usage & Applications

This diffuser is beneficial for septic systems in environments where oxygen levels are naturally low or where higher organic loads demand enhanced aeration. The Tank Bottom Diffuser ensures consistent oxygen delivery and promotes healthier, more efficient waste treatment processes.

The Science

The Tank Bottom Diffuser works by adding oxygen to wastewater through tiny bubbles, which have a lot of surface area to dissolve oxygen more efficiently. This extra oxygen helps the good bacteria break down organic waste, speeding up the treatment process and improving water quality. The diffuser is designed to distribute the bubbles evenly, which helps keep solids from building up on it, so it requires less maintenance. With low airflow needs (just 1-3 CFM), it provides effective oxygen without using too much energy, making it a cost-effective way to improve septic and wastewater systems.

Data & Statistics

It is estimated that 95% of all septic system failures are caused by biomat clogging. SludgeHammer technology is rigorously tested and certified to restore leach systems clogged by organic biomat at a rate of at least 2.5 times that of aerobic treatment alone through testing under IAPMO IGC180-2003. SludgeHammer is the ONLY technology on the market that holds the IAPMO standard.
